About
An exploration of movement as language, and the body as both pen and page.
The Embodied Poem is an invitation to enter the body as a living text ~ one that speaks through breath, rhythm, gesture, and sensation. Rooted in somatic listening, improvisation, and poetic attention, this class weaves together elements of dance, free movement, and embodied inquiry. It is a space where movement becomes metaphor, and presence becomes practice.
This class invites you to find freedom in the language of your body ~ to move beyond habit, beyond performance, and into sensation. We begin in stillness. Through breath, we soften the grip of patterned movement. From there, we enter guided scores, movement explorations, and improvisations that encourage curiosity, disruption, and deep attunement. This is a space where structure and spontaneity meet.
You may find yourself moving in ways you didn’t know were possible ~ unguarded, precise, strange, or soft. You may write poems with your spine, or let your feet become a question. This is a space to unlearn choreography and reclaim embodiment. No experience is necessary ~ only a willingness to arrive honestly, to move from sensation, and to let your body surprise you.
This experience is guided by Lihi Benisty.
