About
Artist, herbalist, and plant dreamer, Paige Emery will be guiding a hypnotic induction to connect with and explore the internal world of the unconscious mind. We will be working with Mugwort, Passion Vine, and Blue Lotus, plants that are revered for aiding dreamwork throughout the ages. Following the session there will be space for reflection, sharing and integration.
Hypnosis is a tool to communicate with the unconscious mind. The hypnosis journey is a type of internal worlding that seeps into the way we exist in the world. Departing from the analytical mind in order to reach the parasympathetic realm of healing, the hypnotized subject can access deeply ingrained patterns that lurk below the level of conscious awareness to provide an opening for meditative communication with the deepest levels of the self. Planting seeds at the unconscious level during hypnosis can help us reach deeply ingrained narratives and patterns and work with brain plasticity to embody the choices we have in how to react, interact, and change.
This is also a place where we can discover guidance through the language of symbols and correlations that exists in the collective unconscious. We engage in this practice together for guidance and renewal towards a greater ecological consciousness.
Please bring a journal, something to write with, and a blanket if you'd like for the hypnosis portion.
Led by Paige Emery
Paige Emery is an artist, herbalist and plant dreamer exploring rituals of remembering the Earth. Her work is interested in interweaving healing rituals and critical ecology, ancestral memory and embodied futurities, ecopoetics and socioenvironmental praxis.
As a practitioner of the healing arts, Paige has guided hypnotic inductions and tea ceremonies for “dreaming outside of someone else’s dream”- or, liberation from ingrained capitalist-colonialism patterns, raising ecological consciousness, and remembering the Earth- at places such as The Getty Museum, Los Angeles, House of World Cultures, Berlin, and Gray Area, San Francisco, among many others.
A Note from the Teahouse: With each workshop, we’re fusing the work of local artists and teachers together with our space and community. These evenings imprint new relationships, weave new worlds, and spark new beginnings. Thank you for your support.
