About
Join us in welcoming maestro Kike Pinto to Los Angeles, as he takes us on a special sound journey through storytelling, instruments, his voice and own compositions. Kike is here to share with us the messages of the Musical Languages from the communities of the Andes and the Amazon.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
As a pioneer composer, his songs have inspired artists in the genre of modern medicine music throughout the world. Kike is a renowned musician, song-writer, lyricist, teacher, researcher, and holder of the spirituality and sacred ceremonial traditions of the Andes and Amazonas. He has dedicated his life to years of study with indigenous spiritual elders, the Quechua language, Andean sacred music and the education and preservation of these practices and instruments. He is considered a living cultural legend in his home country of Peru, and his teachings are profound and clear (we are so lucky that he is fluent in both the Quechua and English languages).
Throughout the evening, we will be serving infusions made with herbs from the Andes to deeper connect with the spirit of the land. We will also be offering a small mercado of artisan pieces from Peru. Proceeds will go towards supporting the Taki Institute, a project dedicated to preserving and sharing the spiritual and cultural traditions of the Andes and Amazon. Kike and his wife Lourdes are co-founders of the Taki Project and are currently raising funds to build a cultural center in the Sacred Valley of Peru to help preserve ancestral knowledge, instruments and practices for future generations.
