About

Altars provide a space for spiritual connection, groundedness and pause. They carve a physical space and intention to connect with those we've lost and to connect with spirits we may have not met, but feel a kinship with. Altars invite space and time to process complex emotions of grief and find peace.

In this workshop, participants will learn fundamental handbuilding skills to create ceramic altars of varying forms and sizes. This will be a playful, low stakes creative session where participants can decompress and work with their hands. Once fired, the altars can be hung from a wall or placed on a table to house sacred objects and invite peace and groundedness.

This workshop will be led by Natalia Ira Sookias of Sooki Studio. All experience levels are welcome and all tools and materials will be provided. Work will be fired by Natalia at her studio in Frogtown, 15 minutes from the teahouse, and available to be picked up within 3 weeks of the workshop.

A Note from the Teahouse: With each workshop, we’re fusing the work of local artists and teachers together with our space and community. These evenings imprint new relationships, weave new worlds, and spark new beginnings. Thank you for your support.
