About
Fudoshin offers pause amidst a world that is constantly moving~
Through breath, meditation, and the art of Japanese calligraphy, participants are invited to slow down and return to the present moment and tap into expression through ink and space. Releasing the need for perfection, we will turn our awareness toward the space between thought and action — allowing the brush to move naturally with that breath.
The experience introduces the philosophy of Fudoshin (不動心), the immovable mind, and explores how the simple act of holding a brush can become a practice of presence.
Participants will be guided through breathing and meditation. You will learn the meaning behind Japanese Kanji characters before choosing one and expressing it through a single intentional brushstroke. The process is not about mastering calligraphy, but about cultivating awareness, stillness, and intention.
Carefully curated materials, instruction, & unlimited tea included.
No prior experience required.
Workshop 11a - 2:30p.
Participants are welcome to arrive early and linger in our lounge, from 10a - 3p.
