About
Making and sharing mooncakes is one of the hallmark traditions in celebrating and honoring the moon for Mid-Autumn Festival. The festival is held on the 15th day of the 8th month of the Chinese lunisolar calendar and is celebrated on the very night of the full moon. On this day, it is believed that the moon is the brightest and fullest, which coincides with harvesting time of mid-Autumn. In Chinese culture, the mooncake represents unity and reunion and is usually made to be shared between families and loved ones.
In this workshop, we will be diving into the history of the Mid-Autumn Festival and the celebration of the moon and also assemble Mooncakes together, using modern and traditional mooncake molds.
All guests will indulge in a mooncake tasting made by Rachel and Erika and will take home a various mooncakes that we make in class.
