About
A multi sensory evening surrounding the topic of the traditional practice of wailing, specific to Jewish Yemenite Women — inspired by the book Aesthetics of Sorrow: The Wailing Culture of Yemenite Jewish Women by Tova Gamliel.
We will dive into learning about this powerful transformative act and reflect on its healing qualities as it relates to our embodiment of the Voice. The voice transports, the voice heals, the voice is a portal and a vessel for us all to move through, within and beyond.
The evening will include physical practices in breath/ movement / sound, as well as a deep listening vocal sound meditation and conclude sharing nourishment of traditional Yemenite food.
Meal: Yemenite Bone Broth soup with cilantro and hawaij, (vegetarian) Baked Eggplant, Schug, Lachuch (Yemenite bread).
A portion of the proceeds will be donated to The Parents Circle – Families Forum. PCFF is a joint Israeli-Palestinian organization of over 600 families.
